BBHC General Meeting: January 17, 2009 - Board Meeting Feb. 2009

BBHC BOARD MEETING

9/27/09

?

The September board meeting was held Sunday, Sept. 27 at the home of Jane Baetz.

Those in attendance: Jane, Kitty Ellingboe, Bill Graham, Nina Garlie, Bethany Berger, and Judy Gaudes.

Discussion of the 2009 Specialty show:

Nina said she heard nothing but good comments, and looked for reasons why there were so many new entries. Other observations mentioned by board members:

1. Many of the new entries were from out of state

2. The judges seemed to be neutral

3. We ran out of food

4. The raffle baskets were great and made lots of money

Discussion of 2010 Specialty show:

We aren't holding a specialty in July because of the Nationals in October and the Specialty we'll hold at that time.

Also:

1. Judy and Nina will get our paperwork in to AKC

2. The show secretary will take care of our specialty, Ft. Dearborn's and the Nationals

3. Kitty and Lisa Painter will be stewards

4. We won't hold a specialty raffle because of Nationals raffles

5. We won't have the usual hospitality food, etc.

6. Advertising in the Tally Ho will start with a half page in January and then a full page later in the year.

7. We won't hold a sweeps or obedience

8. Start time should be 9 am because of the large entry expected

9. Jane will contact Italian judge Francesco LaMarca to see if he would judge the specialty and what his expenses would be. Other possible judges are Dana Klein and Nigel Luxmoore-Ball.

10. Beth volunteered to do the prizes and ribbons again. We will only have prizes for the top finishers, and not all the way through 4th place.

11. The board okayed the spending of $50 as a set up fee for the new logo on the ribbons, etc. to Recognition Specialists.

12. Bill said that Geiger in Waukesha is interested in bidding on the shirts, bags, new logo, etc. that will be needed for the Specialty and Nationals. He will get more information on prices.

Discussion of 2010 Nationals:

The club will need special shirts for Nationals so all members stand out. There was a discussion about simplifying colors on the new logo to make screen print easier. Jane will take care of calling Anne to fix that. Some shirts will also be embroidered. Bill and Judy have already visited Geiger to get suggestions about colors and methods of printing that would be best.

The brochure and decals that are going to the 2009 Nationals in Washington are finished and will be handed out to advertise our Nationals next year.

Jane and Nina will soon be presenting a report on the planning progress to be presented to BHCA.
