BBHC MEMBERSHIP MEETING JULY 18, 2008 Meeting was called to order by president Nina Garlie at about 7:15 pm
In attendance: Nina Garlie, Bill and Sue Graham, Judy and Ron Gaudes, Doug Dropp, Bethany Berger, Kitty Ellingboe, Tracy Smith, Cheryl and Ken Cieslinski, Jane and Tom Baetz.
Minutes from the June membership meeting were approved after a motion by Jane and second by Sue.
Specialty show business:
President- Nina said she has a list of items to bring such as tablecloths, banners, etc. and she is all set. She will arrive at the show site by 3pm, and she and Bethany will check out the fairgrounds and rings on Thursday evening before the show.
Doug Dropp- Doug reported that the club now has a liability policy which was especially important to obtain before the upcoming show. The policy cost $187 paid to Frankenmuth Mutual, and highlights include:
Combined- Bill had nothing to report. Sue said she and Bill have volunteered to sell Combined Show catalogs from 2 until 3pm.
Judges- Jane said the baskets for the judges are ready. Doug volunteered to pick the judges up from the hotel and bring them to the show site.
Trophies- Bethany said all have arrived, and she just needs to add stickers to some of them. She also is handling the coupons for winners to have photos taken.
Ring Location- Bill said we could decide on the location the day of the show.
Hospitality- Judy is getting the subs out by 4 pm. She will need help setting up, and reminded everyone to bring the items they signed up for.
Raffle- Cheryl and Ken said they have less baskets than previous years, but the baskets are nice prizes. They will tape winning numbers to the baskets rather than post winners on a board as in the past. Members also volunteered to bring tarps in case of rain, a first aid kit, lemonade and coolers.
A discussion regarding the lower entry numbers was held in an effort to increase them for next year’s show. One idea mentioned was to increase our suggestions for judges in the Waukesha show. That might bring up the entries for both shows. Another idea is to have two specialty shows, one on Friday with combined, and one on Saturday after the Waukesha Show. The expenses would remain the same and be split between the two shows.
Other Business: Bassetfest will be held the 23rd and 24th of August this year.
The board voted on line earlier to use our 2008 Texas Nationals money for agility prizes. All the group awards were spoken for.
Kitty received a club-wide invitation from the Basset Hound Club of Greater Seattle to attend their specialty August 1-3.
Jane reported that she was asked to run the BHCA website.
The meeting was adjourned at 830pm after a motion by Jane and a second by Nina.
